Moirai

Description

I wanted an opportunity to complete a black and white version of my Last Call painting, which I began with the vision of completing in color. After my first grisaille layer I fell so in love with it in black and white that I giclee printed it on watercolor paper, mounted it to a cradled birch wood panel of the same size, gessoed it and prepped the surface as I would any other oil painting, and completed it in black and white oil paint. While it is painted over an underpainting of a giclee print of my own underpainting (confusing, I know) the panel has been covered in at least 3-4 additional layers of oil paint, entirely and completely. This is not an embellished print; it is totally re-painted, layered, glazed, and varnished, effectively rendering it its own separate original oil painting.
